It wasn't my idea. A very creative friend, Iain McAleese, proposed Star Cloud in the first place and, for various reasons, asked if we could produce it. It sounded interesting so I put the word out, inviting people to write something on the subject of starlings' murmurations. What a wonderful combination of pieces we got, from poetry and prose to musings and music. And then we recorded them in the usual way at HBS in Glasgow and the Barony Centre in West Kilbride. Working with John Boyd, we began the process of arranging and illustrating the various pieces. Because this was to be our first (and probably only) video,
it was all new to John and me. For a start we had to make sure we had permission to use certain images and video clips, while others were open source. Then the sounds and music, effects and images had to be balanced to make sense with the wide-ranging writings. So - it was complicated! Audio is really my thing - John's too - but this is a new departure altogether. And so I invite you to take half an hour just to sit back and - this time - to watch what we have made.
